Adoption Event 5/11 at Kirkland Petco

Adoption Event!

Kirkland Petco
May 11th from 10am-2pm

Adella is looking for a home.

The Details:

Browse all our dogs up for adoption on Petfinder and load up the car (your furry friends too!) and come on down!  If you’re interested in a specific dog, please fill out an application now for pre-approval and contact us to ensure the dog will be there. An approved APPLICATION will be required prior to taking your new dog home. Please feel free to send an application in today and we will process it as soon as possible. Although you will also have the opportunity to fill out an application at the event, you will need preapproval to complete an adoption.

If you already have an approved application on file with PUP, please email our adoption coordinator Trish, to let her know which dog you are interested in meeting so she can schedule a meeting time.

My dog is usually pleased with what I do, because she is not infected with the concept of what I “should” be doing.

Berliner Pub
221 Maine Avenue S
Renton, WA 98057

Join super-supporter Miriam and Berliner Pub for an evening of drinking great beer, eating good food, winning awesome raffle prices, listening to great music and supporting PUP Dog Rescue! All proceeds will benefit and support PUP’s efforts to save dogs that would be put to sleep otherwise.

We will have a silent raffle, which will allow you to put your raffle tickets towards the items you really want. Among other things we have Mariners and Sounders tickets, a Nexus 4 phone, gift baskets and gift certificates from various businesses.

The Colour Project will be providing some great music, if you haven’t heard of them, you’re missing out and will now have a chance to listen to them.

Big thanks to Berliner Pub for hosting this event, and to Miriam for making one of her many charitable ideas a reality. Attire is traditional festive German dress (if you so desire).

A treat for your heart, soul, stomach, ears, and eyes (there will be lots of beautiful, dog-loving people there) all in one evening… who can say no to that?

If you can’t make the event, don’t you fret now. You can support the event by donating here:

PUP to rescue over 50 dogs to kick-off 2013!

“Every morning I’m awoken by the gentle nuzzle from my dog, a dog who loves me and appreciates all the little things in life. My dog never understood that just 2 years ago he was scheduled to be euthanized in a California shelter, until PUP stepped in.”

This weekend we are so excited to do our first shelter sweep of 2013 and save over 50 dogs from possible euthanization. By pulling these dogs we are also alleviating the stress in the California shelter by providing some breathing room for their homeless residents…if only for a day or two. Approximately 3 million to 4 million pets are euthanized each year, how can you help save more dogs?

  • Education
  • Volunteer
  • Support your local shelter and rescue
  • Spay/neuter your pet
  • Micro-chip your pets and make sure they have an identification tag on their collar

Below are a few of the lucky dogs being transported to Seattle this weekend from California, they will be adopted by animal lovers in the Pacific Northwest hopefully soon! You can find the below dogs and many more on Petfinder or email adopt@peopleunitedforpets.com.

Meet Springsteen, a 1 year old Chihuahua

Meet Anemone, a 1 year old Chihuahua mix

Meet Kayla, a 2 year old Terrier mix

Help Kaia the German Shepherd find a home in Seattle

Kaia the 2-year-old German Shepherd mix is looking for a forever home. Her foster family says “she is a sweetheart to all that greet her, men, women, and even older children” –how can you resist? Take a peek at her adoption profile!

Kaia has been living with one of our foster families on their small farm, and this is what they have to say about her:

Kaia enjoys lounging in the house on her pillow while chewing on an elk antler or playing with her favorite stuffed animal snake toy! She frequently brings the toy over to her foster and drops it at her feet to play. She also enjoys chasing balls in the yard! This girl is a keeper and will make a wonderful companion to someone or a family that will step up and lead her just as all dogs do!

Kaia comes from an overcrowded shelter in California. She is spayed and microchipped and current on her DHPP, Rabies, and bordetella. She tested negative for heartworm and has been wormed and flea treated.

Kaia loves going on car rides and hops up easily into the car and into her crate. She is well-mannered indoors. Like all dogs, she will need to have clear boundaries and a consistent routine established in her new adoptive home. She is highly intelligent and responds very well to a quick “No” and correction. She knows a few basic commands like “Sit”, “Come”, “Down” and “Kennel” and will flourish with an owner that can be a leader that will continue with her training, routine, and structure.

We recently had Kaia evaluated by a K9 trainer we work with. He said this dog is smart, a quick learner, very responsive, a great dog. He also said he could have her fully obedience trained in a weekend. We watched him with her for a 10 minute lesson. Beautiful! It was great to watch Kaia be so responsive to who she knew to be a leader. This dog kenneled, sat, downed, and walked beautifully on a loose leash. She wants to please and she wants a leader as all dogs do. Kaia has pushed up against and jumped up on her foster so her foster is working on firming up those boundaries with her.

If you think you have room in your home and heart for Kaia and you reside within Washington State, please go to our Adoption Information page. There you will find more information and be able to fill out an adoption application.

Angel for Adoption

Angel the Chihuahua has been looking for a home for a while. This sweet and loving 1 year old dog is offering the following in return: love, companionship, snuggles. Well ok….Angel didn’t tell me that specifically, but you see it in the eyes of this tiny 4lbs pooch. Her foster mom says “she is all about the LOVE!” –so how can you resist not taking a peek at her adoption profile?

Angel has been living with one of our wonderful foster volunteers, and this is what they have to say about her:

Angel is a sweetie pie! She is a bit timid at first introductions, but once she gets to know you, she is all about the LOVE! Angel wants to be with her people and especially loves to cuddle with you on the sofa or under a blanket on your lap! She gets along well with other dogs and with dog savvy cats! We have Angel on a strict potty schedule and she has been doing well learning basic house manners. This sweet girl has plenty of love to give and deserves a home of her very own!

Angel comes from an overcrowded shelter in California, is spayed and microchipped. She is also current on her DHPP, Rabies, and bordetella. She tested negative for heartworm and has been wormed and flea treated.

If you think you have room in your home and heart for Angel and you reside within Washington State, please go to our Adoption Information page. There you will find more information and be able to fill out an adoption application.

Happy 7 Year Anniversary PUP‏!

Back in 2005, PUP rescued our first dogs out of an Oklahoma puppy mill with the help of Small Paws Rescue out of Oklahoma. We saved 9 dogs that day. Who would have thought, seven years later, we would still be saving lives?

I remember thinking, “I’ll start this and in three years people will be spaying and neutering, all of the dogs will have homes, and I’ll start something else.” Unfortunately, we aren’t to the point where we can close our doors, but in that time some things have changed for the better. I pray they will continue to.

Fortunately, I have the pleasure of working with some amazing volunteers, vets, vendors, and great supporters. Together, we have built a rescue we can be proud to call our own. Thank you!!

With that being said, it gives me great pleasure to present you with our new PUP logo!

To top all of this off, we have saved, as of May 1, 2012, over 1800 dogs, a few kitties and of course a couple of birds!

Thanks to everyone for their support, hard work, passion, and dedication to a rescue that was started with few hands, a very arduous mission, and a big heart!

Adopt Cosmo, our Valentines’ Day PUP!

As part of the Valentines’ Day holiday, we’ll be blogging about 1 dog each day until the big day!

Cosmo is a tiny bundle of energy. But, he is a real lap dog for sure! He is a little shy with new people at first, but warms up quickly after a proper introduction and is your best friend. He loves to run and play and jump and give kisses. He plays very nicely with other submissive dogs, but is fearful of more dominant dogs. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and fetching the ball. He loves to go for walks and does great riding in the car. He is working on crate trained and house trained if kept on a schedule. Cosmo is vocal when he hears other dogs barking or sees other dogs or people out walking. He is learning how to be more quiet and is very good when told ‘no’. He needs training, but also seems very eager to please his people and quick to learn new things. He is very lovable with his people and would do well in an active household. He is a real sweet cuddly boy that wants to be with and please his people, and he will make a wonderful companion!

Cosmo is neutered and microchipped. He is current on his DHPP, Rabies, and bordetella. He tested negative for heartworm and has been wormed and flea treated. Cosmo comes from an overcrowded shelter in California. PUP was asked to help and we are so glad we did. All dogs PUP pulls from California come with health certificates, as required by Washington State.

  • Male Miniature Poodle mix
  • Approximately 1 year old
  • Approximately 6.6 lbs
  • House trained if kept on a schedule
  • Crate trained
  • Will require a home with a fenced yard
  • Okay with other dogs, don’t know about cats
  • Dog respectful children 8 and older
  • Adoption fee: $285

If you think you have room in your home and heart for this dog and you reside within Washington State, please go to our Adoption Information page. There you will find more information and be able to fill out an adoption application. See his Petfinder profile here http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/21760137.

Note: The above description reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog’s foster home. Although PUP provides adopters up to the minute information on our dogs, we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners.

Rainey the Yorkie mix needs a sweetheart to adopt her!

As part of the Valentines’ Day holiday, we’ll be blogging about 1 dog each day until the big day!

Rainey came to us as a fearful puppy who had not been socialized. The shelter called her feral. She spent a couple months in foster care in CA before coming up and has been with us for about a month. Rainey is tentative and careful with people, and she will shy away from your hand if you reach for her. If you let Rainey come to you instead, she gets braver and will climb right into your lap. The more we get Rainey to play with us, the more she forgets to be nervous and just acts like a puppy.

She is full of curiosity and is very playful and happy. Her tail is always up and wagging. Rainey does okay with the cats and doesn’t try to hurt them, but will bark at them. Because Rainey is more confident and less scared when with another dog, she would do best in a home with a dog buddy. Her new family will need to be committed to socializing her with a number of people to help her get over her fear. Rainey is potty trained on a regular schedule. She has had no accidents indoors and is happy to run outside with the other dogs. She is also crate trained and quiet in her crate unless she needs something such as to go potty. She is still in the puppy chewing stage so puppy-proofing our home was a must. Putting things up and out of harm’s way and providing lots of chew toys is important. This will keep herself and the items safe. Rainey is not leash trained but is trying to be brave and learn. She is smart and adorable! One look at this girl and she will steal your heart! Raising a puppy requires a lot of work and is a commitment! Rainey will be an awesome addition to a family that can give her the attention, exercise, training and affection she deserves.

Rainey comes from an overcrowded shelter in California. PUP was asked to help and we are so glad we did. All dogs PUP pulls from California come with health certificates, as required by Washington State. Rainey is spayed and microchipped. She is current on her DHPP, Rabies, and bordetella. She and has been wormed and flea treated.

  • Female Blond Yorkie mix
  • Approximately 6.5 months old
  • Approximately 8 lbs.
  • House trained on a potty pad
  • Crate trained
  • Okay with other dogs
  • Looking for a home with a companion dog
  • Not recommended for a home with cats
  • Dog respectful children 8 and older
  • Adoption fee: $275

Adoption: If you think you have room in your home and heart for this dog and you reside within Washington State, please go to our Adoption Information page. There you will find more information and be able to fill out an adoption application. See her Petfinder profile at http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22075473.
